Asuka Nurimoto
At 17, Asuka enrolled in the pre-professional program at the School of Alberta Ballet for two years having Wendy Wright as one of her teachers. She then went on to train with Wright Studio for two years and played the role of Myrtha in last season’s production of Giselle at Wright Studio. (Photo)
She has earned several awards at ballet competitions in Japan. Her roles include Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Kitri from Don Quixote and Giselle and Myrtha in Giselle. She has also danced notable roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker, the Blue Bird pas de deux in Sleeping Beauty as well as the pas de trois from Act One of Swan Lake.
Asuka is completing her first year as a professional ballet dancer working with Citie Ballet in Edmonton and is thrilled to dance once again in Spring Performance of Wright Studio!
Sommer Hines
Sommer was born in Vancouver, BC. and grew up between Banff and Calgary Alberta. She started her ballet training at the age of 6 at The Banff Centre, and also received training at The School of Alberta Ballet, The Edge School for Athletes and Wendy Wright Studios. Sommer completed the Advanced 2 Cecchetti exam.
She spent her summers doing programs at Boston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet School, and The School of Alberta Ballet.
Post graduation, Sommer will be attending The University of Arizona on a scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. (Photo courtesy of Tarzan Dan TDFoto.ca)
Delaney Allison
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta Delaney has been dancing since she was three years old.
She has studied ballet, modern and jazz with The School of Alberta Ballet, Canada’s National Ballet School, The Edge School for Athletes and Wright Studio. Delaney has also trained in contemporary, improvisation and other dance genres through summer programs with Wright Studio and LEON Dance Arts New York. Travel dance studies with Edge School for Athletes have taken her to Anaheim, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Paris.
Post graduation, Delaney will be attending Arts Umbrella Graduate Dance Program in Vancouver to attain a Dance Diploma with Vancouver Community College, after which she hopes to continue pursuing her love of dance and travel with a professional dance company.
Ali Kaschuk
Ali was born and raised in Calgary. Since the age of four she has been dancing, which introduced to her the genres of jazz, hip hop, street dance, contemporary, lyrical and ballet.
She studied and competed for 11 years at Premiere Dance Academy, then transitioned her focus to Ballet, at Wendy Wright Studios. While studying dance Ali completed the Homong teacher training which enabled her to teach jazz in the 2012-2013 dance season and she continues to substitute teach.
Throughout the years, one of Ali’s passions has been spiritual and humanitarian awareness, which will lead her to Missionary work in the Caribbean this fall.
Soon after, she will start her Undergraduate Degree at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. Once settled, she hopes to find a Ballet Studio to dance with!
Carin Eggertson
Carin, born and raised in Calgary Alberta, has been dancing since she was three years old.
Her passion for movement started at the Calgary Winter Club Saturday morning ballet classes where Carin was recommended to pursue her passion further by auditioning at the School of Alberta Ballet.
At the age of 5, she joined the school and age 7 joined the professional program to pursue a larger repertoire of dance styles including ballet, pointe work, modern, jazz, tap, highland, African, etc. After high school graduation, Carin continued to dance with Wright Studio as well as the University of Calgary. Through her dance minor while attending university, Carin was able to balance life and academic work with her love of dance.
Currently, Carin has completed her studies at the University of Calgary and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance. She is working for ATCO Structures & Logistics as a financial analyst with a focus on earning a professional designation.
